The Ossola Valley
The Val d’Ossola is an alpine valley in northeastern Piedmont, within the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, bordering Switzerland. It corresponds to much of the Toce River’s drainage basin and includes seven main side valleys: Valle Anzasca, Valle Antrona, Val Bognanco, Val Divedro, Valle Antigorio, Valle Isorno, and Val Vigezzo. The valley is crossed by the Toce River and surrounded by majestic mountains, including Monte Rosa and the Alpe Veglia and Devero Natural Park.
Rich in history and culture, the valley features picturesque villages such as Domodossola, the main town, known for the enchanting Sacro Monte Calvario (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The area is famous for its natural beauty, the thermal baths of Premia, unspoiled landscapes, and culinary traditions, with typical products such as alpine cheeses and black bread. It is an ideal destination for trekking, skiing, canyoning, and nature lovers.
The village of Masera
Masera is a small municipality with 1,473 inhabitants, located at 297 meters above sea level in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in Piemontet, northwestern Italy. The town is set in a mountainous landscape, surrounded by the Alps, and lies along the valley of the Toce River. Masera is known for its tranquility and natural scenery, making it an ideal place for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts.
